Introducing Trends on Radar

Earlier this week, we launched Radar: The Podcast Search Engine, built on top of Particle Podcast Intelligence. Radar lets you search 130,000+ podcasts, with 20,000 episodes added daily. Millions of hours and billions of lines, fully searchable.
Now we're launching a new feature within Radar: Trends. See overall trends, as well as category charts for TV shows, movies, video games, guest appearances, and more. See exactly what changed, when it changed, and why. Use the “breaking” filter to easily spot the newest trending topics. You can also create alerts for the entities in trending lists.

How it Works
Radar finds trends from Particle's podcast corpus. Every entity that Particle tracks is measured against its own history of mentions across podcasts, and then compared with other entities. We don’t just look at total mentions (if we did, inherently popular topics like Taylor Swift or Artificial Intelligence would trend every day). By measuring the entity against its own unique baseline, Radar filters out everyday popular topics to identify when a niche topic or breakout story experiences a surge in chatter.
A story that has been building for a week and a story that broke this morning will both chart, while a story that has already peaked will begin to fall away. How many shows are mentioning the topic, how often, and how recently, all paint a picture of which topics are rising further above the rest. This way, Radar can surface a breaking story about Aaron Donald coming out of retirement, right alongside the slower build of NFL talk as the season begins.
Radar brings it all together by finding a podcast quote to tell you the story so that you can hear what people are saying, with citations back to the exact moments in the episodes.
