The company is seeking approval from the EPA to release 32 million specially treated mosquitoes in California and Florida to help reduce the spread of mosquito-borne disease like West Nile virus and Zika. It's a part of Google's Debug initiative, which was created over a decade ago to reduce populations of disease-carrying mosquitoes. The EPA will collect public comments through June 5th before deciding whether to grant an experimental use permit.
