[phone rings] Johnny Dollar.
Frederick Keeley0:18
[clears throat] This is Frederick Keeley at Masters Insurance and Trust Company.
Johnny Dollar0:23
How are you, Mr. Keeley?
Frederick Keeley0:24
I... Oh, fine, thank you, but that's rather beside the point. I have a bit of a problem, Mr. Dollar.
Johnny Dollar0:29
Haven't we all?
Frederick Keeley0:30
Eh? Beg your pardon?
Johnny Dollar0:31
Nothing, sir. Just go on, please.
Frederick Keeley0:33
Well, Mr. Dollar, one of our claimants, that is to say the beneficiary of a small insurance policy, apparently never received the check for $3,000 we sent him.
Johnny Dollar0:43
I'm afraid I don't get it, Mr. Keeley. Why call on me?
Frederick Keeley0:46
What do you mean, sir?
Johnny Dollar0:47
Well, all you have to do is call the bank, stop payment on that check, and issue another.
Frederick Keeley0:51
I'm afraid not, sir.
Johnny Dollar0:52
Why not?
Frederick Keeley0:52
I said apparently never received it. I use that word advisedly.
Johnny Dollar0:56
Well?
Frederick Keeley0:56
Because it so happens the check we sent him has been cashed.
Johnny Dollar1:00
Oh.
Frederick Keeley1:01
Yes, properly endorsed and apparently cashed by the claimant, the beneficiary himself.
Johnny Dollar1:05
Apparently.
Frederick Keeley1:06
Yes, and again, I use the word advisedly.
Johnny Dollar1:08
Well then, it kinda means one of two things: either this beneficiary is trying to collect the money twice- Yes ... or somebody else got to that check first, in which case we have a little matter of forgery on our hands.
Frederick Keeley1:18
Which, of course, should exact the fullest possible penalty of the law. Will you look into it for us?
Johnny Dollar1:24
Sure, Mr. Keeley, why not?
