You're Not Abandoning Anyone, You're Finally Choosing Yourself

6/18/202659 min

You've spent years abandoning yourself to keep the peace. The guilt you feel when you finally speak the truth? That's not a sign you're doing something wrong, it's a sign you're finally coming home. Real emotional healing doesn't start with gratitude journals or "just moving on." It starts when you stop hiding the parts of yourself you buried to be good, easy, strong, or lovable. In this conversation, Cathy Heller and Hope Lutz Vercel explore how healing from divorce, relationship change, grief, and personal transformation can become a path back to your true self when you're willing to face what you feel rather than bury it. This is for you if:  You're navigating life after divorce or a major relationship change  You feel guilty every time you tell the truth about what you need  You're exhausted from keeping the peace at your own expense  You're ready to reconnect with yourself and stop self-abandoning Join me at cathyheller.com/circle. There's so much guilt associated with truth. But when you have the courage from love to share what's true, my friend Mark Grove says, "Liberation is then a two-way street. It's never a one-way street." And I don't know what the future holds, like who I'll meet, if we'll, if we'll repair. I don't know. But what I do know is who I am today is a version of me that is so much more available- Mm ... and connected, and willing to be, to be in the truth versus the discomfort of trying to manage all the reactions people could have to the truth, including my own, and therefore wanting to bury it, which I think is m- it's terrible, 'cause I think we, a lot of people live with a lot of that. [upbeat music] Hey, guys. It's Kathy Heller. Welcome back to Everything is Energy. Guess what? This is the first time that I'm recording in my house. Ooh, ooh. I love this. [laughs] It's so much fun. I was inspired by Chloe in Wonderland because she sits on this, like, wraparound couch, and I thought, I love when things get to be easy, right? I feel like as, as human beings, we're so married to the idea that things have to be hard. Why? Why can't you just be sitting barefoot, cross-legged on your couch with somebody that you love and having the best conversation? Yes, sign
