Your Boss's Unpopular Opinion & It's Taurus Season

4/20/202655 min

Madonna crashed Sabrina Carpenter’s Coachella stage and it took the crowd a minute to realise they were in the presence of an(other) icon. Luckily, Madge had a bonus skill up her sleeve: An astrology lecture about Taurus season.

Holly Wainwright brings a few little nuggets that slipped out of Meghan Duchess’s fancy Sydney event on the weekend, including a new theme song.

Also, Kardashian whisperer and multi-millionaire businesswoman Emma Grede says remote work is a 'career killer' for women. She reckons if you aren’t seen, you aren’t getting promoted. Is flexibility actually costing women their next big move, or allowing women to do their dream jobs in the first place? Amelia Lester has a story about the presentee boss from hell.

In other business, we’re diving into the dark world of 'looksmaxxing' after an influencer’s viral breakdown. From 'bone-smashing' to dangerous supplements, why are young men falling for a happiness formula that clearly isn't working?

And the debate that won't die: Should teachers be banned from social media? Over the weekend a viral post asking whether educators should also be influencers has taken over Clare Stephens's algorithm.

  5. Claire Stephens· Host0:15

I have been obsessed all weekend with a debate about teachers and social media that refuses to die down.

  6. Holly Wainwright· Host0:24

Ooh. A professionally handsome influencer broke through to the mainstream last week, thanks in part to a confrontation with an Aussie reporter, and then he immediately collapsed live on film. Everything about Clavicula. Clavicula. I can't even say his name. [laughs] Clavicula.

  7. Claire Stephens· Host0:43

    Clavicula.

  8. Amelia Lester· Host0:44

And look, the work-from-home controversy, it is back. In- I don't think it ever went away, but the Kardashian whisperer says that remote work is bad for women, and we're all having strong feelings about it.

  9. Claire Stephens· Host0:57

  10. Holly Wainwright· Host1:08

    [laughs] I love.

  11. Claire Stephens· Host1:09

On Friday night, Sabrina Carpenter played her second set on the main stage at Coachella, and she has been known, we know that in her first set she had a couple of surprise, like, cameos from Will Ferrell. This was a different kind of surprise cameo. So she was singing her song Juno, specifically the lyrics, "Wanna try out some freaky positions?
