[upbeat music] Hello, and welcome to this bonus edition of The Game football podcast from The Times and Sunday Times. This is a recording of a World Cup preview live event we hosted for listeners and readers here at The Times building in London. On the panel were Martin Samuel, Tony Cascarino, Hamza Khalile Luna, and Johnny Northcroft, and me, Tom Clarke, as the host. We covered England, Scotland, the wider tournament, what we can expect from the conditions, and some of the old stars hoping to deliver on the biggest stage for one last time. We hope you enjoy it. I'll be back at the end to tell you about our other specials we've got coming up.

[clapping] Who clapped? Bonus points for the gentleman who over clapped as we were walking out there. [laughs] Hello, everyone. Welcome to this Times event to preview the 2026 World Cup. I'm Tom Clarke. I'm the sports editor at The Times, and the host of our football podcast, The Game, and I've got the pleasure of being your host for this evening's event as well. Um, just to give you a quick layout of the evening, me and the guys up here will have a bit of a chat, which is also gonna be an episode of The Game podcast. So, congratulations, you're all part of the team now. We'll then open it up to some questions from the floor, and we'll be milling around afterwards as well if you've got any further questions, and if anyone wants just to chat to me about Lincoln City's amazing season, I'm right here- [laughs]
