Women's Six Nations: Wales earn bonus point but Red Roses win again

4/25/202621 min

Sara is joined by World Cup winner Kat Merchant and former Wales captain Siwan Lillicrap to reflect on England's victory over Wales. Despite the Red Roses scoring 62 points, there were still plenty of positives for Wales who earned a try-bonus point as Alisha Joyce returns, Keira Bevan shines at nine and their lineout bamboozled England. Despite shipping four tries, the Red Roses completed a record-extending 36th consecutive Test win. Marlie Packer scored another two tries, Zoe Harrison's sensational form off the tee continued, and captain Meg Jones impressed again - is she now nailed on to be World Player of the Year?

Well, welcome to Ashton Gate, where I just wanna big up the front row between Wales and England at the moment because they're the ones that are still out right now, 45 minutes after the final whistle. They're signing the autograph on the bus. I can still see the England captain, Meg Jones, as well. But can see Amika Cain is out there. Um, I just saw Molly Reardon there for Wales. Um, oh, Marlie Pack is out on the far side of the pitch as well. Uh, alongside me, former Wales captain Siwan Lillicrap, also World Cup winner from 2014, Cat Merchant. Siwan, you're smiling. This is good.

  3. Siwan Lillicrap· Guest0:39

Yeah, I am smiling 'cause I thought there was a huge amount of character shown in that Welsh team today. To score two tries first half, and then to score two tries towards the end, and, and, and one in the death of the game with the youngster, Seren Lockwood, going o- over in the, in the corner, was a huge improvement. I thought it was tactically really well thought out by the coaches. Um, a- and, and I just felt like Wales did put more pressure on, on England than we've seen in some time.

Yeah, it really was a good feeling, uh, here at Ashton Gate. And that's not to take anything away from the Red Roses. A massive result- Yeah ... for them. England 62, Wales 24. We're gonna pull this apart here on this, on the whistle here on Rugby Union Weekly. And Cat, we are gonna focus on Wales to start off with, but you do just have to sometimes give credit to England. Once again, they've shown up and scored 10 tries.

  5. Kat Merchant· Guest1:29

    Yeah, I think
