Will Trump's record unpopularity make him end the war in Iran?

4/1/202634 min

Things just aren’t going well for Donald Trump right now. Forget the Iran war, his spectacular NATO fallout, rising gas prices, Trump’s just heard that the construction of his 90,000ft ballroom will have to be paused after a judge told him he was the White House steward and not its owner. The affordability crisis in America is spiking as his poll numbers are tanking. Is he looking for a speedy way out? A diversion?

We speak to Congressman Jim Himes, the ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee.

  2. Donald Trump· Soundbite0:08

We're hitting them very hard. Last night we knocked out tremendous amounts of missile-making facilities. We'd... as you probably read.

  3. Jon Sopel· Host0:15

And when things aren't going quite as well as he would like, what does he do? What is his go-to?

  4. Donald Trump· Soundbite0:21

Bad press, fake press, all fake.

  6. Donald Trump· Soundbite0:26

I would say that within, uh, two weeks maybe, two weeks, maybe three. We're hitting them very hard. Last night we knocked out tremendous amounts of missile-making facilities. We'd, as you probably read or wrote. We'll be gone- We knocked out... Excuse me? Pardon-pardon me for interrupting. Will be, the US will be gone or done with the war in two to three weeks? I think we're two or three weeks, yeah. Not three weeks. If it is three weeks- We'll leave.

  7. Jon Sopel· Host0:49

It's interesting that Donald Trump says two or three weeks. It's always two or three weeks. Two or three weeks to get a trade deal. Two or three weeks to get peace in Ukraine. Two or three weeks to replace affordable healthcare. Two or three weeks to do any number of things. When Donald Trump doesn't know an answer, it's always two or three weeks.

  8. Emily Maitlis· Host1:10

So to read between the lines, I guess the question we're trying to ask is, has he got bored of Iran, and is he now about to give up? Welcome to the News Agents USA.
