Why does soap hurt your eyes? [upbeat music] Hi, welcome to Curious Kids Everyday. I'm Josh. How are you doing today? It's so good to hear from you. Hey, have you ever gotten shampoo or soap in your eyes before? [upbeat music] How did that feel? Yeah, it stings. That's one of the first lessons you have to learn about taking a bath. Close your eyes when you're washing your hair and face, otherwise, ouch. But what is it about soap and shampoo that stings your eyes? I was thinking about this question today because I got an email from a curious kid named Campbell. Campbell wondered, "Why does soap hurt your eyes?" Great question, Campbell. Let's find out. Your eyes are amazing, but they are also very sensitive. The front of your eye has a clear covering called the cornea. Can you say cornea? That front part of your eye also has lots of nerve endings. Do you know what nerve endings are? Nerve endings are tiny parts of your body that send messages to your brain
