It was another busy week in politics. For our weekly news roundup, we discuss the Justice Department’s investigation into E. Jean Carroll, a writer who won two lawsuits against President Trump. We also discuss former First Lady Jill Biden’s comments about former President Joe Biden’s 2024 debate performance, as well as which Democrats might be on the 2028 presidential ballot.

    And welcome to our weekly news roundup. Uh, we're gonna start the show off today at the Department of Justice, where there are reports of a new investigation into the writer E. Jean Carroll. Ryan, for those of us who don't remember, uh, who is E. Jean Carroll?

    So she is a, a writer, a journalist, advice columnist, author, uh, wore many hats in the, in the journalistic realm.

    Um, but she's probably best known in the past several years, um, for suing Donald Trump twice.

    Mm-hmm.

    These were civil lawsuits. Um, she accused Trump of sexually assaulting her in a, in a Manhattan department store in the mid-1990s. Trump denied those allegations, but after she made them, he also lashed out at her, called her a lot of names. She then sued him for defamation as well. Ultimately, she won both of those- Mm ... lawsuits. She was awarded combined judgments of nearly $90 million against Trump. Trump is still fighting these, still challenging them, still litigating them. Um, so at this point,
