TTKIM 5 - The Historical Books in the Old Testament

5/18/20261 hr 16 min

This episode of followHIM features John Bytheway, Hank Smith, and Dr. Ross Baron exploring the “historical books” of the Old Testament—Joshua through Esther—and how they reveal God’s hand in Israel’s history over roughly 800 years, from the entry into the promised land to the Persian period. They explain that these narratives show the blessings and consequences tied to the Abrahamic Covenant and emphasize that God is patient, merciful, and consistently works with His people at their level while inviting them higher.

[upbeat music] Hello everyone, and welcome to another episode of Follow Him. Today we are looking at another entry in our Thoughts to Keep in Mind. We have with us our friend, Dr. Ross Barron. Thank you for joining us again, Ross.

  5. John Bytheway· Host0:52

Hopefully, we can talk about all of that today as we are trying to increase [laughs] our Old Testament literacy on Follow Him this year. Why don't I read the first paragraph in the Thoughts to Keep in Mind, and then we will turn it to you, Ross, and you can take off. This is what our official manual says. "The Books of Joshua through Esther are traditionally known as the historical books of the Old Testament. This doesn't mean that the other books in the Old Testament don't have historical
