My colleague Mike Isaac covers Silicon Valley, which this week has been rocked by major layoff plans as the rush to build AI upends the tech industry. The Times got access to an internal memo that was sent around yesterday at Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram. It announced it's going to cut ten percent of its workforce, about eight thousand people. It's also going to leave another six thousand open roles unfilled.
