[upbeat music] Welcome to Coach Your Brains Out, the show that explores learning and leadership from the top minds in volleyball and beyond. With your hosts, John Mayer and Billy Allen. I have a question about variability. Maybe it depends on the level of the setter, but I guess how much are you like blocking out, "Hey, like we're en-entering from rotation four over and over," or how much are you mixing up the entry points? Are they setting the same set over and over and over? Or is there a lot of variability there? How do you decide that?

There's not a lot of variables there. You know, you're gonna enter from rotation one. It's the same thing every time. You're gonna set the left side ball. But as soon as you start throwing in, [clears throat] okay, you're gonna enter from rotation one, then you're gonna enter from rotation four, and you're gonna set either left side or right side, and I'm gonna call go or red as the ball's being passed. I mean, that gets, gets pretty advanced real fast right there. But, um, but I think that's, you know, that's the levels that you wanna get to because that's stuff that, you know, a-and the setter needs to understand. You know, I, I kind of attribute it to block learning. I'm not a big fan of block learning, so I'm not gonna want to just set the left side over and over and over again because I want them to take the ball in the same position if they're gonna set the right side or the left side. So the only way you can do that is if you're,
