So why did this priest suddenly flip out and kill a nun? So the priest's name is Father Gerald, and Father Gerald is 41 when the story starts, and he's living in Toledo, Ohio. And Father Gerald is a chaplain at a Catholic hospital, and he's very popular. People in the community love him. And one day in 1980, he's giving a Good Friday sermon in the hospital chapel, and since Good Friday is an important day of the year for Catholics, one would assume that he would give this big sermon. But for whatever reason, Father Gerald cuts this service a little short. Now, most people in the chapel probably don't even notice, but one person definitely does. Her name is Sister Margaret. And Sister Margaret also works at the hospital chapel, and technically, she's not a nun. She's a sister. Whatever. Regardless, she and Father Gerald do not get along. They never have. So Father Gerald cutting the sermon short pisses her off, and it makes her sad. Like, she's crying and visibly shaking from this. This is a big deal to her. So eventually she goes and she confronts him, and she says how she's disappointed in how he handled the service, and this turns into a pretty heated argument. Now, this confrontation is the last straw for Father Gerald. He is tired of Sister Margaret's bull [censored]. He's tired of her questioning him. He's tired of her second-guessing his leadership skills, and he decides it's time to finally get
