[suspenseful music] When the text comes in, I just happen to be awake. I'd been tossing and turning all night with a weird feeling in my belly that wasn't the shrimp nachos we had for dinner. Careful not to wake my wife, I grab my phone from the bedside table and slip out of bed, heading for the study and my comfy leather chair. "It's back," the text reads. I frown at the words, then look at the sender. My belly doesn't feel weird anymore. In fact, I can't feel a thing. My whole body goes numb when I see the name attached to the text, Laura Miles.
