It's Thursday, the 4th of June. In your Squiz today, Iran and the US trade strikes, there's a policing uproar in the UK, a Disney duet legend dies, and a palaver over a big potato. This is your Squiz today. [upbeat music] First of all, you will have noticed a new voice just then. Anna, welcome to the podcast. It's fantastic to have you here. I'm very excited for Squizzers to get to know you. But before we get into the news proper, just tell us a little bit about where you've come from.
Anna Pykett· Host0:40
Good morning, Andrew. I'm so excited to be here. I'm a longtime listener and first-time host- Great ... so this is a great morning [chuckles] for me. Um, before joining The Squiz, I produced ABC News Radio's national brekkie program, so I'm no stranger to pretty aggressive ouch o'clock alarm calls.
Andrew Williams· Host0:56
[laughs] Good.
Anna Pykett· Host0:57
I'm a total news nerd. I've also been a news reader and reporter for the BBC before I switched hemispheres and came down here to Australia.
Andrew Williams· Host1:04
Yes, you probably noticed there's a British accent, uh, peeking through there. [laughs] But you became an Australian citizen just over a year ago now, so welcome, and it's lovely to have you here. Now you and I share a whole bunch in common, but one thing in particular is that we both appreciate a good notebook.
Anna Pykett· Host1:17
Yeah. I mean, who doesn't love gorgeous stationery? Um, I know you do, Andrew. [laughs] But I just wish my handwriting didn't let me down. It looks all right on the first page, and then it just descends into spider scribble. Um, I'm a fair-weather runner.
