This is your Squiz today. [upbeat music] Andrew, our federal politicians are back in Canberra today for a sitting of Parliament, and there's plenty on the agenda. Changes to the NDIS, a bill beefing up authorities' powers to seize illicit tobacco products, and new protections for airline passengers under an aviation bill are all up for debate in the Lower House.

Yeah, there's plenty going on, but the story that's likely to keep dominating headlines are these federal budget tax reforms, and particularly this change to the capital gains tax. That has caused a lot of debate, and that's likely to continue this week. So you might have seen it was a bit of a fiery end to Parliament last week. Coalition leader Angus Taylor called Prime Minister Anthony Albanese something I probably can't repeat, but it started with arrogant and, uh, ended with, uh, something that rhymes with wick. Uh, so, uh, that's been a lot, and that debate is likely to continue. And there's a bit of time pressure. So there's three weeks left until the Albanese government's self-imposed deadline of getting this legislation passed by the winter break. So the clock is really ticking on this.
