The Surprising Science of Why We Laugh (#285)

1/20/202620 min

We tend to think of laughter as a reaction to something funny. A joke. A punchline. A moment of humor. But in real conversations, laughter shows up in ways that matter far more than we realize.

Neuroscientist Sophie Scott CBE explores why we laugh, how laughter actually works, and the many roles it plays in our relationships - from bonding and relief to concealment and control.

Sophie Scott is a professor at University College London and a leading researcher on the science of laughter.
