What separates winners from everyone else? It isn't talent. It isn't luck. And it definitely isn't motivation. Most people spend their lives avoiding discomfort. Former NBA player Cuttino Mobley says that's exactly why they stay stuck. In this episode of Digital Social Hour, Sean Kelly sits down with former NBA star Cuttino Mobley to discuss the mindset that helped him play more than a decade in the NBA with almost no major injuries, overcome childhood trauma, thrive under criticism, and build a life centered on discipline instead of excuses. Cuttino explains why young athletes should play multiple sports, why fear and failure are your greatest teachers, and why today's NBA has lost much of the creativity that made basketball great. He also opens up about surviving violence as a child, watching close friends lose their lives, navigating fatherhood, and why accountability is the foundation of every successful person. Football players train basketball, basketball players train football. The impact, the force, swimming, boxing, all that. If you do all that in once on a regular basis in the summertime, you have less chance of being injured during the season. Weakness is my friend, because weakness is going to tell me the truth about me. Fear is gonna tell me the truth about me. So I need to become best friends with them, because they will always tell me the truth. Comfort will not tell you the truth. Being content won't tell you the truth. They're not actually your friends. They're fake friends. They just want you to hang with them.

All right, guys, we got Cuttino here, a former NBA player. Thanks for coming on, man.
Cuttino Mobley· Guest0:41
Thanks for having me, brother.
Sean Kelly· Host0:42
Yeah. Looking good at 50. We were just talking about health- Ah, yeah ... and the importance of it.
Cuttino Mobley· Guest0:45
Yeah, yeah. So, uh, you know, I got my daily regimen that I use, uh, and I've been, uh, very faithful with it, and try my best not to negotiate those things, right?
Sean Kelly· Host0:55
Mm-hmm.
Cuttino Mobley· Guest0:55
So, uh, I might fall off once or twice a month, but, um, that's just, you know, cookies or ice cream sometimes. Other than that, I just stay kind of simple, man. It's like Groundhog's Day. [laughs] Every day, the same thing, you know what I mean?
Sean Kelly· Host1:07
Yeah. Were you always big on health, like, when you were an athlete too?
Cuttino Mobley· Guest1:10
You know what? I was blessed, man, to, um, to n- not be injured, right?
Sean Kelly· Host1:16
Mm.
Cuttino Mobley· Guest1:16
And I think it was just how I kept my body. My dad was a boxer, my mom was athletic. My mom was actually... It's funny, she just showed me a documentary, uh, that, uh, Philadelphia put out, uh,
