[ominous music] [pensive music] In the belly of the Van Nuys Courthouse, there is a place called the lockup. It's directly underneath the courtroom, down a flight of stairs. It's a room lined with grim cells. This is the holding place for the people who find themselves on trial here in the San Fernando Valley. The inmates get dropped off by a prison van and led into one of the cells by a bailiff to wait.
