[suspenseful music] Welcome to The Void, season two, chapter eight, The Family Curse. From the archives of the Milton Register, September 30th issue, article titled Town In Distress, Mayor AWOL. Cover. Written by Emmett Truman, lead staff writer. Our once proud and peaceful oasis, the town of Milton, is in distress. You've seen it in the eyes of your neighbor as you frantically search for groceries. You've seen it in the darkened shadows of your living room as the candles burn lower, a reminder that our town's power is still turned off. No one is settled. No one is at peace. And now, with the burning down of a warehouse critical to Milton's infrastructure, we have reached full on emergency status. But where is our leadership during this fraught situation? Where are the people responsible for leading us out of this mess and into a better tomorrow? Where is our mayor, Jordan Cain? As this crisis has roared to a fever pitch, this publication, the trusted Register, has reached out to the mayor's office every single day in search of answers. We've begged for comment. Their answer, silence. We haven't received any communication from City Hall in four days, and haven't heard directly from the mayor in more than six.
