The Fall of Skywalker III: TrIXie

5/19/20261 hr 23 min

Star Wars Episode IX is often dismissed as a film made by committee, but with its constant on-set rewrites, loose improvisational style and hyperactive camera movement, it’s very much a J.J. Abrams film.

All hail the Oracle, my horrible beautiful boy.

[upbeat music] Richard Marquand is a fascinating and controversial figure in Star Wars history, and it's not hard to see why. David Lynch was, and Lynch even accepted the job. And being David Lynch, he had some insane ideas. According to Return of the Jedi's producer, Howard Kazanjian, Lynch's two biggest changes that he wanted to make to the film were to bring on his own sound effects guy and his own composer, meaning the two people he wanted to get rid of were Ben Burtt and John Williams. But after Lynch spent one day with George Lucas on Skywalker Ranch, in his own words- Then I got a really, uh, uh, almost like a migraine headache, and I, even before I got home, I kind of crawled into a phone booth and phoned my agent and I said, "There's no way, w- I know no way I can do this."

  2. David Lynch· Soundbite1:12

He said, "David, David, David, David, calm down. You don't have to do this." And, um, so George, bless his heart, I told him on the phone the next day that he should direct it. It's his film. He d- invented everything about it. But he doesn't
