The difference between Pep and Arteta? Success and Sentiment!

3/23/202651 min

Rio is joined by Joel Beya and Ste Howson to analyse Arsenal’s defeat to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup Final where they pay particular attention to Mikel Arteta’s decision to stick with number 2 goalkeeper Kepa.

Rio reveals why he thought that was a big mistake both tactically and in terms of the mentality it showed. There is a defence of Declan Rice who Rio believes “couldn’t do his job” because of the lack of service and praise for Pep Guardiola’s tactics that may have shown other Premier League opponents how to overcome Arteta’s Arsenal.

The trio all believe that Tottenham might be playing their football in the Championship next season and after a frustrating draw with Bournemouth - Ste and Rio lay out what the priorities should be for Manchester United to address in the summer if they are to compete in the Champions League.

Rio makes another plea for Danny Welbeck to be picked in the World Cup squad for England and he also reveals the release of an extra special Gabriel Batistuta interview where the Argentinian legend divulges some incredible detail about Rio’s idol - Diego Maradona.

[upbeat music] Do you know what? It f- it felt to me that Pep showed that he's the person who's got around fifty-five or so trophies, and Mikel Arteta's got one as a, as a, as a coach. Like, or four-- I think he's got forty-four as a, as a, as a coach, Pep. The way that he set that team up yesterday, Pep, especially in the second half. And there's loads of clips I can see s- going, going around. It's been clipped up. Um, but you could see it in the match, that you look at it and go, "He's just said, 'Arsenal, I don't think you have the ability to play through us if we put a four-man kind of barrier in a, in a, in a mid-block,' and say, 'Go on, get through that to your midfield now.' I don't think you've got the d- defenders who are capable to get that, that through that, that, that line." [upbeat music] Yes, guys, welcome to another episode of Rio Presents, brought to you by our partner, Crafted. Listen, man, I can't start anywhere but Wembley. Wembley. And I thought we was gonna be coming here today with a man
