'The Chatbot History That Ruined My Relationship’
4/10/202651 min
You click on a link on your partner’s computer and all their unspoken doubts unspool: You have too many cats. You’re ‘fragile’. And then there’s that 'attraction problem'. This is what happened in the viral story we’re unpacking from writer Lindsey Hall about reading her boyfriend’s ChatGPT thread. So, asks Clare, who betrayed who here? And what would you have done?
Also, is having a 'Signature' everything — from a drink to a restaurant to a gift to an outfit — a genius life hack, or just an excuse for us lazy girls?"
Plus, science has apparently discovered the exact dance moves that make a man 'sexy' to women, and Hamish & Andy have been putting it to the test. While an avatar might have the moves, Holly insists no man is actually a good dancer unless he’s Harry Styles or Bad Bunny.
And, Em tells us about the lipstick we’re all meant to be wearing right now, and, crucially, where we should put it.

Holly Wainwright· Host0:09
And here's what's made our agenda for this Friday. There's a hack to simplifying your life that is also the perfect excuse for lazy girls. Welcome to your signature everything- Mm ... era. Plus, there's a new way to do your lipstick, and I guarantee- [laughs] ... you're not going to like it.
Claire Stephens· Host0:28
And the woman who discovered her boyfriend had discussed all his doubts about their relationship with ChatGPT.
Holly Wainwright· Host0:35
[gasps] Oh, dear. But first, Em Vernham, according to science, there's a [laughs]...
Em Vernham· Host0:42
I always say according to science- [laughs] ... but then I never do the step further of finding out what the science is.
Claire Stephens· Host0:46
No, no, no, that's not important.
Em Vernham· Host0:46
So bear with me.
Holly Wainwright· Host0:47
It's like science is a person. [laughs] [laughs] According to science.
Em Vernham· Host0:50
According to science, there's a specific type of dance that men do that women find most appealing.
Holly Wainwright· Host0:57
I've seen it. It's on Bad Bunny.
Em Vernham· Host0:59
Yeah.
Claire Stephens· Host0:59
[laughs] Oh. Oh.
Em Vernham· Host1:01
It's not that cool.
Claire Stephens· Host1:02
Yeah.
Em Vernham· Host1:02
I'm telling you right now.
Holly Wainwright· Host1:03
Yeah, sorry.
Em Vernham· Host1:04
So Hamish and Andy brought this to my attention, our mortal enemies.
Holly Wainwright· Host1:08
Our mor- our, our nemesises.
Em Vernham· Host1:09
[laughs] Yeah. Scientists in the UK have come up with a little video of this avatar dancing, and it's meant to be very attractive to women. So I think they got a bunch of women together. This is what I'm assuming happened. They got a bunch of women together and they're like, "What's your favorite type of dance in a man?" And one woman's like, "I like hip movement." And one woman's like, "I like hands." And they put it all in this avatar, and he's just doing the most.
Holly Wainwright· Host1:29
