Hello, listeners. A quick warning. This episode contains upsetting scenes, including a description of suicide. Listener discretion is advised. [suspenseful music] Welcome to Sherlock Holmes Short Stories. I'm Hugh Bonneville, and from the Noiser Podcast Network, this is The Adventure of the Resident Patient, Part 2. Last time, Holmes received a house call from the anxious Dr. Trevelyan, a man whose wealthy resident patient, Mr. Blessington, has been causing him considerable concern. Blessington hired Trevelyan's rooms for him on the condition that he be allowed to stay there too, the better for the doctor to treat his troublesome heart condition. But following the visit of a pair of Russians to the doctor's surgery, Blessington appeared gripped with terror. He insisted that the younger of the two men had been in his room while Trevelyan treated the elder for an apparent attack of catalepsy.
