Father Sun was up bright and early, as was Rootibug, for today was the first garden harvest. The peas, carrots, and potatoes, the celery, broccoli, and lettuce, the onions, garlic, and herbs were all ready to be gathered and prepared for storage in the root cellar. Considering that Rootibug supplied most of the food, everyone was happy to help partake in the work of the day. Hamilton was always curious how the gnomes were able to keep their food from spoiling, so he paid close attention and asked all sorts of questions about their practices. "Come with me," said Rootibug, who invited him downstairs to his illustrious root cellar. While the others continued harvesting above, Hamilton followed Rootibug down below. As the door swung open, Sister Flame appeared upon every candle. The cellar seemed to go on forever. Taking a proud stance, Rootibug smiled.
