    Gather round. This happened in March 1922. A farmer in Bavaria walked outside and found footprints in the snow. They came from the edge of the forest and led straight to his farmhouse. He followed them all the way to his door. Then he looked for tracks leading back. There were none. Someone had walked out of the woods, come to his home, and never left. Andreas Gruber told his neighbors about the footprints. He told them about the strange sounds in his attic at night, a newspaper nobody ordered, a set of keys that didn't belong to anyone in the family. One neighbor offered him a gun. He turned it down.
