Spurs crushed by late equaliser as Rutter leaves them in relegation zone

Pien Meulensteen is joined by Michael Dawson and Les Ferdinand as Tottenham’s Premier League survival hopes were hit by a crushing 95th-minute Georginio Rutter equaliser as in-form Brighton left Spurs languishing in the relegation zone by grabbing a 2-2 draw in north London.

    [upbeat music] Welcome to the Sky Sports Premier League podcast. We were in North London for Saturday night football to see Spurs take on Brighton. This is how we saw things at the end of the night.

    [whistle blowing] [crowd cheering] Well, Spurs' longest winless run for ninety-one years goes on. But so close they came to ending that barren spell. It's now 15 games without a league win, but they gave it their all here, a much improved performance. Twice they led, but twice they couldn't hold on. Pedro Porro teed up brilliantly by Simons in the first half. He headed home his first Premier League goal of the season. But then in stoppage time at the end of the first half, there was an excellent answer from Brighton, a brilliant volley from Mitoma. One-one at halftime. Xavi Simons' virtuoso goal raised the roof. It looked like that might be enough, and as the minutes ticked on in added time at the end, up stepped Rouxteir. Danso dispossessed, Rouxteir make, making no mistake. Two-two the final score line. A point not enough, and it'll feel, Alan, like a defeat.
