[upbeat music] Hi, I'm Tali Blackman with the latest from the Quickie Newsroom for Friday, June 26. The Socceroos are through. Australia has qualified for the knockout phase in the World Cup, finishing second in Group D after drawing their match against Paraguay. Taylor Strano will have more in the weekly debrief. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has defended housing tax reforms during an interview on Sunrise after host Nat Barr asked if the government was out of touch following 45 days of public confusion.
Natalie Barr· Soundbite0:38
Prime Minister- But as you've said, Nat- ... for 45 days, people have been angry and confused. They have been running to their accountants. They, they don't know what's happening. Do you think you're out of touch?

Tali Blackman· Host0:57

The PM explained that the broader tax changes won't start for a year, and anyone currently using negative gearing will not be affected. He dismissed the backlash as a scare campaign and backed Treasurer Jim Chalmers, denying that the plan was falling apart. From July 1, women across Australia will have access to perimenopause and menopause
