Simon Squibb: Dream vs. Goal

4/27/20261 hr 3 min

In this episode, Jan connects with entrepreneur and visionary Simon Squibb to dissect the fundamental difference between a dream and a goal. Simon, who went from being homeless at 15 to becoming a multi-millionaire, shares his radical philosophy on why "monetizing your dream" is the only path to true fulfillment. Together, they discuss the flaws of the modern education system, the trap of middle-class comfort, and why pure willpower often fails where deep-seated necessity succeeds. It is a raw, high-energy conversation about taking ownership of your life and turning "crazy" dreams into inevitable realities. Get Your Own CANYON GRAIL Ready to hit the gravel? 1. Jan Frodeno· Host0:00

[gentle music] The difference between a want and a need.

  2. Simon Squibb· Guest0:06

Yeah, no one makes it if it's just something you want because everybody just wants it.

  3. Jan Frodeno· Host0:09

    Yeah.

  4. Simon Squibb· Guest0:09

Everybody wants to be rich, everyone wants to be fit. I think you need to need it. If I was dating someone, I'd lose my six-pack, and then I broke up, within a short period of time, my six-pack would be back, right? So in other words, [laughs] I needed it and not just wanted it, right?

  5. Jan Frodeno· Host0:21

[gentle music] Simon Squit. Squit Going Mental. You're somebody who's made dreaming popular. What's your dream?

  6. Simon Squibb· Guest0:31

A dream is something you can say that can be very, very crazy, and a goal probably is a step-by-step thing. A 20-minute run today- Mm ... that, that's a goal. But my dream is to be able to run a triathlon. Martin Luther King, he didn't say he had a plan. He didn't say he had a goal. So my dream is to fix the education system. I sold my company, a company called Fluid, buy a really lovely house, buy a brand-new car, Porsche, and then I sat in that house with my Porsche outside the front, and I thought, "That's it. I've made it." And honestly, for the first six months, amazing. But it turns out I wasn't satisfied.

  7. Jan Frodeno· Host1:09

    Mm.

  8. Simon Squibb· Guest1:09

I didn't have a point. What makes us happy is helping each other. Oxytocin is released when we help a fellow human because we're tribal, and that's what I've learned I wish everybody understood. Just take five minutes to help someone today. You'll see what I mean.

  9. Jan Frodeno· Host1:21

You've made it in, from the world up. You started on your very own. What's there to fear?
