Scout Tzofiya Bolton: 'Trust the patient'
6/8/202658 min
This week, John sits down with author, poet, broadcaster and activist Scout Tzofiya Bolton.
Scout speaks about living with schizoaffective disorder, experiencing psychosis, addiction and repeated struggles to access the right mental health support. They discuss the events that led to a prison sentence during a manic episode, the failings they encountered within mental health services, and the unexpected ways prison helped them rebuild their life.
Scout also reflects on sobriety, faith, creativity and the power of poetry and radio to communicate experiences that can be difficult to put into words.
Scout's book, The Mad Art of Doing Time is available now.

Hello everyone, it's John here, just letting you know that I have written a book. It's called Thirst: 12 Drinks That Changed My Life, and it's out now. In many episodes of How Do You Cope?, you'll have heard me talk about my relationship with alcohol, and in writing Thirst, I wanted to explore what alcohol means. Why did it mean more to me than other people? Why did it mean some things felt better? And why did it mean so many things went wrong? I also talk about lots of other things you'll have heard me and my guests discuss on How Do You Cope?: meditation, physical pain, gratitude, trauma, and therapy. There's even a chapter about my bum and its relationship with Buddhism. So if that piques your interest, Thirst is out now, and the audiobook, read by me, is available wherever you get audiobooks from.

[gentle music] Monday AI agents took over my work, and I absolutely love it. Chasing deadlines, writing status reports, updating stakeholders, agents handle the daily grind now. They live inside monday.com, so they see the full picture, my work, my team, the whole company, and I don't have to worry about the data. It's safe, which means I'm free to focus on the big stuff, knowing everything runs smoothly in the background. It's completely shifted the way we work. Create your own AI agent in minutes on monday.com.
