Schneider Starting to Lose Patience + Shi Davidi
5/4/202650 min
Jeff Blair and Kevin Barker look back on the Toronto Blue Jays' split series against the Minnesota Twins. They discuss John Schneider's decision to bench Tyler Heineman, Kazuma Okamoto's hot streak, and whether Dylan Cease's pursuit of efficiency is compromising his strikeout stuff. Later, Sportsnet MLB insider Shi Davidi joins the show (27:18) to help tee up the Jays' series against the Rays in Tampa and discuss Heineman's benching, George Springer's tough luck in the batter's box, and what the lineup might look like when the team is back healthy.

[upbeat music] Did anything happen with Heineman in the sixth? It just seemed like it- Uh, no, just a manager's decision. Manager's decision?
Kevin Barker· Host0:14
No, I'll keep it, um, manager's decision. Heinie's in there.
Jeff Blair· Host0:19
[laughs] There you go. Uh, [laughs] welcome to Blair & Barker, brought to you by Capital One, Capital One giving credit to over four million Canadians and counting. That was the manager of the Toronto Blue Jays, John Schneider, yesterday after, uh, an in-game benching of Tyler Heineman in, uh, the Blue Jays 4-3 loss to the Minnesota Twins, uh, coming after an at-bat where, uh, not only did Heineman swing at a pitch that probably shouldn't have swung at and popped up. I, I don't know. I, I mean, he, he didn't exactly bust a gut running down to first base, and I think John, John had seen enough, and Brandon Valenzuela, I think as Shi Davidi described it, Heineman hadn't even made it back to the dugout [laughs] when Valenzuela was strapping on the, strapping on the shin pads. What, what do you make of this, Kev? I, there's a lot to talk about. They split a series with the Twins. Um, the Twins are not a very good team, although, you know, they've done okay against the Jays this year, but the fact of the matter is they're not a very good team.
