I'm the host, Scott Feinberg, and this episode, I will say for our listeners tuning in, is being recorded during the Cannes Film Festival in front of an audience of festival-goers at the Campari Lounge within the Palais, the beating heart of the festival. I'm so thrilled and grateful that my guest for this episode is a truly brilliant German actress. She's best known for the films Toni Erdmann, Anatomy of a Fall, and The Zone of Interest, all three of which happen to have premiered here in Cannes. It seemed impossible that anyone could have had a better year than her 2023. That was the year in which Anatomy of a Fall and The Zone of Interest were both released, both nominated for the Best Picture Oscar, and she herself was nominated for the Best Actress Oscar.
