Samara Weaving: Scream Queen, Motherhood & Her Biggest Year Yet
6/9/20261 hr 12 min
Aussie actress Samara Weaving is here! We talk about becoming a new mom, navigating pregnancy during press, and what motherhood has been like so far.
We also get into her new film Carolina Caroline, which I loved so much, mastering a Southern accent, getting locked in a car trunk, and why this role was a nice change from being covered in blood in so many of her previous projects.
Plus, Samara reflects on her path from Australian soap operas to Hollywood, being dubbed a scream queen, her iconic viral scream, and why this might just be her biggest year yet.

[upbeat music] Welcome back to the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast. I'm your host, Amanda Hirsch, and I still can't believe that I get to chat with some of my favorite stars on my very own podcast, where you'll feel like you're just talking shit with your best friends in your living room. [upbeat music] Hey, you guys. Welcome back to Not Skinny But Not Fat. It's your girl, Amanda. I hope everyone had a good week. I'm super annoyed today because the day I'm recording this, it's Lenny's birthday, and I told my family, like, a month ago, I was like, "We're gonna celebrate Lenny's birthday on his birthday, on June 2nd, and we're gonna do cake, and, you know, that's it. It's not a big deal." Everyone's like, "Yeah, yeah, of course." Then today it's like, "Hey, I'm moving. I have, like, a graduation for one of my kids' after-school fucking programs. Mom has a sleepover tomorrow, so it'd be easier for them not to come to..." Excuse me. The cake is being delivered. The decorations are up. No, they're not, but I said that they were, and you're coming today. It's my baby's birthday. And this is what can be, like, so annoying about families. It's like, where do you get off with your rudeness to think that like... My sister Lily goes, "So can we celebrate tomorrow evening instead?" I'm like, "The answer is a fat N-O. No, we cannot.
