[gentle music] Today my guest is director, actor, and filmmaker Olivia Wilde, real name Cowburn, more on that later, whose new film, The Invite, a comedy starring Seth Rogen, Penélope Cruz, and Edward Norton, premiered to a rapturous response at Sundance, sparked a bidding war, and landed at A24. I've seen it as part of the preparation for my interview. Enjoyed it. Uh, as an older man in a mature relationship, it spoke to my life experience. It's about two couples spending the evening together, and I don't want to give too much away, but, um, the themes are to do with intimacy in a long marriage, sex, polyamory, communication, the stuff of life. Was that a spoiler? No. Nevertheless, it says "spoiler alert," so I might say a spoiler in a minute. The film is the third Olivia's directed. Her 2019 debut was Booksmart, a coming-of-age comedy, which was followed by Don't Worry Darling in 2022, which starred Florence Pugh, Chris Pine, Olivia herself, and her then-boyfriend, Harry Styles.
