S2 Ep 12 - Kate Hulett The Culture Creator

4/21/202650 min

We all want our cities and our neighbourhoods to be better, but what can we do about it?

Tim and Kev head to Fremantle in Western Australia to meet Kate Hulett, a community-minded individual who isn’t afraid to step up and have a crack at making change.

She’s passionate about Fremantle and her state and, with great positivity, advocates for better housing, more thoughtful and sustainable development, more public space, and a city that works for the people who live in it.

She’s a very good human.

This podcast is proudly presented by the Australian Institute of Architects, the voice for Australia's built environment and the designers who shape it. [upbeat music] Hello, I'm Kevin MacLeod, and welcome to Tim and Kev's Big Design Adventure. Hi, Tim.

  2. Tim Ross· Host0:21

Oh, yeah. Hello, Kev. I'm, I'm Tim Ross. It's great to be here. Another episode, another adventure. And they are adventures. Sometimes I think we forget to tell everyone that although it's on the tin, as they say, but we take you with us on design adventures.

So the, the... for me, the entire day was a set of experiences which I found utterly beguiling, to the extent that I thought, "Oh, hang on, if I could live in Australia, maybe I'd come and live here and all these people would be my friends."

  4. Tim Ross· Host1:18

[laughs] That's exactly the way I feel about Fremantle. Port city south of Perth. But it has this great energy about it. There's this mixture of the old and the new,
