We'll start with Phil, who sends this on email: "My question is in regards to after-match on-ground interviews at football matches. Why can't interviewers ask players a question rather than making a statement to them, e.g., 'You and the team played a wonderful game today.' What are they expected to say to this statement? The interviews are mostly a waste of time and offer no insight into the game we've all just observed. Your thoughts on interviewers making statements rather than asking a question?"

It's an easy thing to do. You can fall into the trap of being, uh, becoming... Like, it, it is a casual conversation environment.

And, but it, it takes a bit of skill to knuckle in and ask a harder question. It, it's always... I, I still think it adds... Just seeing the person, the, the player, regardless of what they say, adds something to the broadcast. Like, you looked at the weekend, uh, Nick Larkey was on after they lost and acknowledged his kicking.
