Pok-É – Kyogre, Groudon, and Rayquaza
3/7/20261 hr 7 min
Welcome ... to Pok-É!
This year is the 30th anniversary of the Pokémon franchise, so we’re picking some of our favorite Legendary Pokémon and speculating upon how they – or something like them – might evolve in real life, pulling inspiration from species throughout our planet’s history!
This episode, we take on the super-ancient Pokémon of Hoenn. How could natural selection result in masters of the sea, land, and sky embroiled in an endless feud? Our creatures to create this time: Kyogre, Groudon, and Rayquaza.

And hello, everybody, and welcome to the fifth and final episode of Pok-E. In honor of the 30th anniversary of the Pokémon franchise, we have been evolving legendary Pokémon all throughout the series. There has been, n- this hasn't come out yet, but no doubt lots of fun discussion and even some fan art- [laughs] ... on the Discord that we've gotten to engage with with our listeners. This episode, for our grand finale, we will be speculatively evolving Kyogre, Groudon, and Rayquaza. All three of them, the, the, the, the weather trio, as the fans sometimes call them. [laughs] The goal of this episode, like all the ones in the series, is to discuss how might these fictional creatures or something like them evolve in the real world as part of our known evolutionary tree. From what ancestry might they come, and what conditions might lead them to evolving their distinctive features? This episode's gonna be interesting because one of the most important parts here is the relationship between these three very different creatures.
