Pok-É – Koraidon and Miraidon

2/28/20261 hr 6 min

Welcome ... to Pok-É!

This year is the 30th anniversary of the Pokémon franchise, so we’re picking some of our favorite Legendary Pokémon and speculating upon how they – or something like them – might evolve in real life, pulling inspiration from species throughout our planet’s history!

This episode, we take a tour of the Paradox Pokémon. Where on the tree of life could we find a pair of dragons built for battle and all-terrain travel? Our creatures to create this time: Koraidon and Miraidon.

  5. David· Host0:17

Funny. Hello, everybody. [laughs] And welcome back to Poke E., our special series we are running through February into March, where we are speculatively evolving Pokemon in honor of the 30th anniversary of the franchise. This episode, we are tackling two Pokemon, Koraidon and Miraidon, the legendary dragons of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

  6. Will· Host0:43

    Yeah, these are cool ones.

  7. David· Host0:45

They're pretty cool, and also, uh, as, as is becoming tradition going through these Pokemon, very odd.

  8. Will· Host0:52

    Yeah. Mm-hmm.

  9. David· Host0:53

This is gonna be, this is gonna be weird. It's not gonna be quite as weird as the last one, but it's- [laughs] ... there's a lot to, there's a lot to go over here. The goal of this series, just like the series it spun off of, Spook E., is for us to pick these fictional creatures and discuss how might this creature or something like it evolve on Earth in our normal understood evolutionary tree of life following the rules and patterns of evolution by natural selection. This is our fun little game that we love to play on this podcast, give you a chance, dear listeners,
