Pat Monahan of Train
6/24/20261 hr 5 min
On this week's episode of Artist Friendly, Joel Madden is joined by Pat Monahan of Train.
Beginning in July, Train will go on a huge tour to mark the 25th anniversary of Drops of Jupiter — the 2001 album with a title track that won them two Grammy nominations and reached certified diamond status last year.
Before hitting the road, the pop-rock frontman stopped by the Artist Friendly studio to catch up with Madden, where they discussed coming up in an era when shelf space drove record sales, scoring the upcoming musical Begin Again, and the band's upcoming run.

And I want people to feel like they've listened to a really cool movie, and I think this is maybe my best lyric writing as a whole, and that's important to me. Those, uh, those ways of saying things that are meaningful that have not been said that way before- Mm-hmm ... is very important to me and very difficult. I want bad times.
