Covers the Philadelphia Flyers for The Athletic, and, uh, I'll open with the, the same question I've asked, uh, everybody today. Was this the terminal point all along that Anaheim was going to match?

I think that's probably what the Flyers figured, even though they took this big swing. And i- in fact, you know, when I was checking around yesterday, somebody did tell me that they were leaning towards thinking that Anaheim was going to match, right? Um- Yeah ... you just look at the player. He's too important to that team. But it still stings, [laughs] right? [laughs] Uh, if you're the Flyers, you're still disappointed. I mean, you know, y- Danny Briere has done, I think, a very good job setting the table, um, with this or- r- and resetting the table maybe with this organization. He's cleared out cap space.

He signed some young players to long-term manageable deals. Uh, you know, he's restocked the system in terms of the prospects. And, you know, I think he's got the right coach in place in Rick Tocchet. We saw what Tocchet did with this most recent team. So- Yeah ... I think a lot of those pieces are there, and if you all of a sudden put Leo Carlsson onto that roster, you know, you would've, to me, th- the path would be pretty clear to becoming a Stanley Cup contender. Not right away- Mm-hmm ... but in a couple years as these, uh, uh, as, as what it, what is a solid group of young players would continue
