  1. Malcolm Guite· Guest0:00

[instrumental music] You may yet walk through Merlin's Isle by oak and ash and thorn. The ancient hills do not forget, and you might wake their wisdom yet. Who knows what wonders might be met on this midsummer morn? So I have taken up the tale.

  2. Matt Fradd· Host0:16

Thank you for taking up the tale.

  3. Malcolm Guite· Guest0:18

Everybody loves Arthur, and I loved Arthur before I was a Christian and after I was a Christian and in between.

  4. Matt Fradd· Host0:24

Would you tell me a bit about the relationship between Tolkien and Lewis? 'Cause people are fascinated with that, and I think they're fascinated with it because we are starved for true male friendship.

  5. Malcolm Guite· Guest0:33

  6. Matt Fradd· Host0:40

I think there's a lot of young men, in particular, who are quite rightly sad about the fact that they feel like they don't belong to a culture.

  7. Malcolm Guite· Guest0:47

You only think you don't belong because you don't remember. You've been robbed by the last two generations who've just stopped remembering the long stories and the old stories. And in fact, story itself, to be a person is to be precisely in a story. We're on Holy Saturday culturally right now. We've had a Good Friday of utter destruction of the sacred and the divine, but Sunday is coming.

  8. Matt Fradd· Host1:11

[upbeat music] Did you come in from England recently or- Uh, yeah, I came in, um, last...

  9. Malcolm Guite· Guest1:26

What is today? Uh, a week ago on Tuesday.

  10. Matt Fradd· Host1:29

    Okay.

  11. Malcolm Guite· Guest1:29

    I think I flew
