Olaf Haraldsson rises to become king and patron saint of Norway. This series contains frequent moments of danger and intensity, including raised voices and the realities of Viking warfare. Characters face battle, bloodthirsty berserkers, treacherous jarls, rebellion, and invading armies. The series depicts pagan worship and the destruction of idols, religious conflict between Christianity and the Norse gods, threats against the king's life, spiritual temptation, and a climactic battle in which Olaf is killed. The series contains references to martyrdom, death, and war.
