President Trump is imposing sweeping double-digit tariffs on dozens of major US trading partners today, including the European Union. The US Trade Representative's office says more than ninety-nine percent of US imports come from these countries, though a broad swath of goods, including energy-related ones, are exempted. Trump says he's putting ten to twelve and a half percent tariffs on sixty economies that he says makes products with forced labor. This after the Supreme Court struck down his previous tariffs, which included ten percent levied against all US trading partners. The US military struck Iran again last night for the thirteenth consecutive night in a row. This as Iran says it hit US targets in Bahrain and Jordan. That sent oil prices rising yesterday. Brent crude oil, the international standard, jumped six percent yesterday to over one hundred dollars a barrel. NPR's Hadil Al-Shalchi has more.
