Live from NPR News, I'm Giles Snyder. President Trump's new tariffs on dozens of US trading partners are going into effect this hour. The US is imposing new taxes of ten to twelve point a half percent on imports from about sixty countries using a 1974 trade law to charge that they have inadequately enforced bans on goods produced by forced labor. They are coming into effect as temporary ten percent global tariffs expire. Trump imposed them as a stopgap measure after the Supreme Court struck down the tariffs he imposed last year. Trump talked about data centers Thursday, speaking to executives and governors gathered at the Environmental Protection Agency.
