Live from NPR News, I'm Giles Snyder. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on Capitol Hill Tuesday, facing lawmakers for the first time since heavy bombings resumed against targets in Iran. Hegseth told members of the Senate Appropriations Committee that the Iran war has cost thirty-seven and a half billion dollars so far, and he clashed with Democrats, including Michigan Senator Gary Peters, as he sought billions more in emergency funding.
