    Live from NPR News in New York City, I'm Dwah Ali Saikali. Two American service members are being called heroes a day after their deaths were reported by US Central Command. One other service member is missing. NPR's Emily Feng says the US has not released their names.

    CENTCOM says they were killed on Friday, and they said four other service members were hospitalized because of injuries, but they've since been discharged. We don't have the names of who was killed or injured, uh, and we don't know how and where these service me- service members were killed. But we do know Iran earlier today claimed it had hit and destroyed American aircraft at an air base the US does use in Northern Jordan.

    She says the deaths bring the total number of US service members killed in the US-Iran war to sixteen people with more than four hundred injured, and all of this comes as a temporary ceasefire between the US and Iran that was supposed to be sixty days did not even get to halfway before ending. Israel's military campaigns in Iran and Lebanon have quieted, but its attention has shifted back to Gaza. Palestinian health officials say Israeli strikes in the few days have killed twenty people and wounded sixty others. NPR's Anas Baba reports.
