    Live from NPR News in New York City, I'm Dwally Sycaltau. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is calling the two American service members who were killed Friday during a strike in Jordan, heroes. In a social media post, Hegseth said their sacrifice only stiffens our resolve. NPR's Shondelise Duster reports on the US military response.

    The US military says it has launched new strikes against Iran at President Trump's direction. The strikes, which the US military said began around six o'clock PM Eastern Time, are retaliation for a deadly Iranian attack in Jordan on Friday. Two American service members were killed, and one is missing from the attack. US Central Command said four other American service members were medically evacuated to Jordanian hospitals and have since been discharged. The US military says new strikes are also designed to, quote, "Further degrade Iran's ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz." Iran has closed the strait, and the US military said it has reinstated a naval blockade. Shondelise Duster, NPR News.

    A produce supplier is recalling all of its iceberg lettuce from the US market because the produce may be contaminated with cyclospora. That's the parasite causing severe illness and diarrhea. NPR's Kristen Wright reports.

    Taylor Farms is pulling its shredded iceberg lettuce sourced from Mexico from twenty-seven states. The company said in a statement the lettuce, quote, "Has the potential to be contaminated with cyclospora,"
