Live from NPR News in Washington, I'm Kristen Wright. The US and Iran are vying for control over the Strait of Hormuz. NPR's Hadiel Al-Shalchi reports on a new wave of attacks.

US CENTCOM said that they had hit dozens of Iranian targets at multiple locations with precision munitions, claiming it had degraded Iran's ability to continue attacking international shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. Iran did not respond to that claim. Iran said Monday it was targeting US bases in Bahrain, Jordan, and Kuwait. It also targeted Oman over the weekend. Sirens were sounded in Bahrain and Kuwait, and the country said they were intercepting hostile attacks.

NPR's Hadiel Al-Shalchi reporting. US Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina died on Saturday. The medical examiner says he likely died from an, an aortic tear. Graham is being remembered as a strong advocate of US foreign policy. Retired General David Petraeus considered him the last of a powerful trio of defense hawks in Congress. NPR's Claudia Grisales reports he dubbed the group The Three Amigos.
