Live from NPR News, I'm Giles Snyder. President Trump is back in Washington, D.C., arriving at the White House overnight following the NATO summit in Turkey that started with divisions over the Iran war and ended on a more positive note. NPR's Franco Ordoña.

I mean, as we know, Trump's long been frustrated with NATO leaders over their lack of support for the US-led war against Iran, but he also made several complaints about them about defense spending. Trump even stoked those tensions in the beginning when he insisted early that the US should again have control of Greenland instead of Denmark, a comment that he knows, and even admitted kind of, that hurts his relationship with Europe. But at the press conference, Trump really flipped the script and showered NATO leaders with praise.

Trump returned to the White House after the US military said it had completed, uh, its latest round of strikes on Iran. In a statement, the military said US forces struck some 90 military targets, including air defense systems and drone depots. Tehran fired back. Sirens sounded in Bahrain, home to the US Navy's Fifth Fleet headquarters. Kuwait's military said it intercepted drones and missiles. Democrat Grand Platner suspended his US Senate campaign in Maine on Wednesday, days after being accused of raping a former romantic partner. Kevin Miller with Maine Public reports.
